Job or School: Office Manager / Sales
Hobbies/Interests: "Going to the gym, shopping, anything outdoors"
Favorite TV shows or movies: "Friends, any of the Griswold movies, Saving
Silverman, anything that makes me laugh"
Favorite Music: "Anything from Ratt to Dixie Chicks"
On awareness of her strength as a young girl: "I've always been strong, the tomboy type. I grew up on
a farm so I'm not scared of any type of physical labor."
Athletic background: "I did track,
cross-country, softball, gymnastics, and cheerleading. I've only been
lifting about a year now and love it! I originally
joined a gym for the use of the tread mills and stairmasters but was
approached by a bodybuilder and was asked how long I had been lifting.
When he found out that I had never lifted before, he was amazed by my
genetics and took my under his wing. I have been training with him
ever since"
On the impact bodybuilding has had on her life: "I think
lifting and seeing results fairly quickly has definately had a positive
impact on my life. It does wonders for the self-esteem and makes me
want to work even harder."
On what motivates her: "I like to see how far I
can push myself. If someone thinks I can't do something, it makes me
want to do it even more. Sometimes the reactions I get aren't always
positive, being a woman trying to become stonger and more muscular, but those negative reactions are the ones that motivate me to reach my
full potential. I guess that's the rebel in me."
On her strongest/weakest muscle groups: "My strongest would my legs, biceps and back. My weakest is my chest."
On people's reactions to her lifting weights: "Men usually respond to it positively, whether they
are intimidated or just like the look. Suprisingly, I have had quite a
few men approach me and make comments or want to feel my arms. That
kind of attention is very reassuring and lets me know that what I do in
the gym is noticeable."
On her future goals in athletics and weight lifting: "I plan to
compete in the Ironman contest in Minneapolis, MN this coming June."
On doing her part to win the battle of the sexes: "I have not
really been "challenged", but I have noticed that I can lift more with my
legs and biceps than most guys in the gym."
