Lifting Background: "I was a cheerleader in high school and I have been lifting off and on for 18 years, but seriously only for the last three years.

"The challenge of changing my physique is what motivates me. I’m naturally very small and it’s a challenge for me to add muscle size.

"I was not strong at all growing up as a child. It’s more natural now but I push myself to work hard and it is hard for me to put on size. But that’s the type of person I am. I just go after it."

On the reactions she gets to her physique: "Most people think it’s great. My former boss was intimidated by it. But that’s not the norm. Most people are fascinated by my weight training and competing."

On how impact has had an impact on her life: "I have much more confidence in myself and it shows. People from my past who knew me when I was the shy girl in High School are pleasantly surprised at how confident I am now. And I’m always willing to help others and answer questions."

On doing her part to win the battle of the sexes: "I think it’s great more women are getting in there with the guys. I encourage women to start lifting and lifting heavy. No sissy weights."
