    Lifting Background: "I have you been lifting since age 7 when my grandfather made me lift to supplement my track and field training. "

    Future Goals: "I want to continue lifting and competing, mainly to remain a role model for women, and to inspire healthy life habits and confidence."

    What empowers/motivates you as an athlete?: "I am fairly competitive by nature. But, I also highly value complements from other competitors and spectators."

    On women working out: "It is a wonderful addition to all the other areas in which women have developed a place for themselves."

    On people's reactions to her training: "Some admire the discipline and dedication, others feel the time and effort I put into my diet and exercise regimen is excessive."

    Were you always strong, even as a child? "I could leg press 180 at age 7."

    Do strength and fitness come natural to you or is it mostly hard work?: " Upper body strength takes a lot of work to maintain. Staying fit takes a lot of work period(cardio, dieting, etc)."

    On the impact lifting has had on her life: "It has had a tremendous effect on my self esteem. Also, I am healthy and feeling good."

    On doing her part to win the battle of the sexes: "I challenged a very cocky firefighter to a one-arm pushups contest at Myrtle beach. If I won, he had to pay for my friend and I to ride on a banana boat in the ocean. I did 10 on each arm, he did a few on one arm and gave up. The boat ride was a blast!!"
