Hobbies/ Interests: "I love any and all professional sports! Am an avid NBA, NHL and NFL fan. My head is stuffed with a plethora of useless information regarding player stats and so-fourth. Not to mention a bodybuilding fan as well! I love to eat and I can cook, too!"
Job background and Current: "I worked in the clothing industry for 13 years and now am an Associate Team Leader in the Customer Service department at Whole Foods Market."
Athletic bacground: "I enjoyed gymnastics as a small child but never was involved in sports. I had a couple eating disorders and was overweight as a child. I enjoyed being academically inclined but not ever athletically inclined.
"As a child and teenager, I was particularly strong. I remember when I was about 9 years old, there were two parked cars. One in the garage and one parked behind it. I sat on the car in the garage and pushed the car in the driveway about three feet! Thought that was cool!!
"I have lifted weights since I was 16 years old. I remember not being able to lift the bar. (About 45 pounds) Now I regularly bench 155 lbs. to warm up.
"Strength has always been natural to me but it is also very hard work. It’s the ability to harness that strength to attain your goals, the mental aspect, that’s the most difficult."
On being competitive: "I am VERY competitive! I compete at everything in life. Best sales at work, best lifts at the gym, best at getting off the red light!! Lol! I am a very driven person by nature. It exhibits itself in the smallest ways. If I am doing it, I want to be the BEST at it. Period.
I never pay attention to what other people think, but sometimes people in the gym will just watch my lifts and are like “Wow!” but I don’t really notice. It’s only because my trainer points it out to me."
On her proudest moment as a competitor: "I would have to say the 2004 nationals in Dallas. It was in my home town. I had gone through a tremendous amount of adversity that year and managed to come in seventh my first go-around."
On what motivates her: "What I love most about the sport are the competitors. They are so driven and disciplined. Nobody knows what it takes to succeed in this sport unless you have done it yourself. My motivation comes from the Lord our God, Jesus Christ."
On the reactions her physique gets from people: "I must admit that I mostly get a positive reaction from people; however, I do get a few negative reactions. I don’t, however, let it bother me."
On her future goals: "My future plans are to train hard and eventually get my pro card. I would love to compete on the Olympia stage one day."
