Were you always strong/athletic/muscular? I was pretty much a
geeky nerd as a kid. I played the violin, wore glasses and orthopedic
shoes until I was 12.
How
did you start lifting? My ex boyfriend was a National
leve BBer and got me started lifting when I was 24 to help with
strength for Kick boxing
Do
you remember how much you could bench/curl/squat when you first
started? Yes, the 45lb bar for squats, 25lb bar for bench
and the 5lb dbs for curls
Has
sports/lifting had a positive impact on your life?: Very
much so. It helps to keep me focused and relieves stress.
What empowers/motivates you as an athlete?: I
like the feeling of know I can totally change my appearance with
weights and cardio.
Who
are your role models in your sport? Stacy Simons is my
biggest role model in this sport. No matter what happens to her,
she keeps at it and is always happy with herself. Physiques I
admire and aspire to be like include Alti Bautista and Klaudia
Kinska.
What's your strongest muscle group, what do you consider
your weakest?: Strongest is back/ traps. Weakest is legs.
How do people react to you lifting weights and/or being muscular
or real athletic? Most people react well. I do ocassional
get the "Are you trying to be a man" comment. But I
don't let that bother me.
What
do your friends/family think? Very supportive. Of course
my Mother still doesn't grapst the concept of the contest diet.
But she's always there for me.
Have you ever tested your strength or your athletic skill against
a male? Can you share any stories and results of such experiences
with us? Yes. I use to be a bouncer in a popular Philly
night club. I think I tested it every night I worked.
What are your future goals in athletics and weight lifting?
I'd like to one day turn pro. But as long as I am having fun with
it, pro status doesn't really matter. I'd also like to bench 225
for reps!
